ncc mourns the sudden loss of sentinels assistant coach

aaron bradley, beloved men’s basketball assistant coach, dies unexpectedly

papillion, ne :: nebraska christian college mourns the passing of aaron bradley (1984-2018), the sentinels beloved assistant men's basketball coach. bradley passed away unexpectedly in the late evening of saturday, august 25. coach bradley's role consisted of leading drills in practice, film exchange, setting up service project opportunities for the team, and mentoring players. the beloved coach will be deeply missed by the sentinels men's basketball team and the entire ncc family.

"coach bradley was more than just a coach, he was one of my best friends. we spent a lot of time together both on the court, on the road, and hanging out.  he was the type of guy that if you ever needed anything, he was there. he had my back on the court, he had my back in life. he was a very reliable and loyal friend," reflects head coach willie williams. "when he first came to work with me, he came without a lot of coaching experience, but soaked up everything he could to grow and develop into a leader of men. his dream was to teach and coach youth in the public school system. i am grateful for the hours he put in; his impact on this program will be felt for years to come."

andrue aguilera, a men's basketball player at ncc said, "coach bradley was the most kind-hearted and selfless person i have ever met. he was consistently genuine, whether it was telling jokes, being goofy, or keeping it real with you. he definitely didn't let other people's thoughts of him affect who he was. he always was willing to help others before he helped himself. i treasure the memories i have with coach bradley, and i will try to live life to the fullest, just as he did."

"coach bradley meant a lot to the athletics programs at grace university and ncc. he always went out of his way to make sure the program ran smoothly and that every player and coach had what they needed. he spent hours working on film to make sure we were ready for each and every game," says student-athlete, dj hanes. "he brightened up everyone's day. he always found a way to make me laugh or smile, even on my worst days. we would talk every day, even when i was back home during the summer. most importantly, he showed me how a strong, committed christian man walks his faith. he was my best friend!"

aaron loved playing pickup basketball, attending sporting events, hanging out with family and friends, and serving the youth group at his church. he is survived by his mom eulalia bradley, and siblings sean and qianna.

the ncc sentinels will have a moment of silence in honor of coach bradley preceding their first home game at 6:00 pm on october 27 at sokol arena vs. dakota state university. throughout the season, the team will keep a chair open on their bench in honor and memory of coach bradley and his indelible impact on the program and on the lives of those who knew and loved him.
