Typical antibiotic susceptibility testing of a normal (non-MDR) Acinetobacter baumannii done with agar diffusion test on "Mueller-Hinton-Agar". Resistant to Ampicillin and Mezlocillin (the ears), but susceptible to Ampicillin/Sulbactam (SAM).
The direct binding of sulbactam to PBP2 of A. baumannii impacts its intrinsic antibacterial activity.
This one was also susceptible to aminoglycosides (Genta & Tobra), Chinolones (Cipro), Tetracycline, Carbapenems (Imi, Mem), the other 3rd Generation Cephalosporins (CAZ, FEP) but resistant to 1st and 2nd Generation Cephalosporins.
Worldwide there are about 90% resistant to aminoglycosides and resistance against chinolons and carbapenems rises dramatically! Outbreaks with multi-drug-resistant A. baumannii are reported all over the world. This bug may be "the next MRSA".

you can chek out in this picture the structure of nature, by focuing strongly.... try it!
Nature's structure changes all the time. This is just a photography, but you can still feel the power of it's generic structure.....
In real nature, each time you move, everithing around you has changed......
